| Event Info/Notes: | Thursday July 30th 2009 RACHAEL SAGE 'SEQUINS AND SHPIEL" with Special Guest: Noe Venable 7:30pm $10 Advance Tickets, $12 at the Door  MULTI-AWARD WINNING ALT-POP SONGSTRESS RACHAEL SAGE Rachael Sage: “Sequins & Shpiel” In preparation for her full-week run at Scotland’s renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival, art-pop songstress Rachael Sage will be previewing her show “Sequins & Shpiel” for one night only at one of NYC's most beautiful venues, DROM. Sage, who has performed with the New York City Ballet and studied at the legendary Actors Studio, will weave songs from her eight-album discography with shpiel about her life as a former ballerina, adventures on the road, and her self-proclaimed “wacky Jewish family.” Expect a healthy mix of vaudevillian shtick, playful Yiddishkeit and Sage's signature pianistic flair. Featuring the extraordinary talents of Dave Eggar on cello (Evanescence, Coldplay, The Who) and Quinn on percussion (Tracy Chapman, Jesca Hoop, Marshall Crenshaw), “Sequins & Shpiel” will preview in the U.S. for one evening only. ABOUT RACHAEL SAGE: Self-taught musician, poet and producer Rachael Sage radiates what MOJO Magazine calls “warm, intelligent…NY indie charm”. An innovative, improvisational keyboardist, she performs over 150 dates a year with her band The Sequins throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Sage, who has shared stages with Ani DiFranco, Colin Hay, The Animals and Judy Collins, was recently named one of the Top 100 Independent Artists Of The Past 15 Years by Performing Songwriter magazine. A Grand Prize-Winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest (Rock) as well as a 2-time Independent Music Award Winner, Sage has earned a loyal following for her infectious melodies, poetic lyrics and often-outrageous, colorful stage banter. Her latest self-produced album, CHANDELIER, was mixed by Kevin Killen (U2, Elvis Costello), and contains 13 tracks of what Performing Songwriter magazine calls “engaging pop arrangements and gripping melodies”. |
