Description
Forró Sem Palavras
Forró Sem Palavras, translating to “Wordless Forró,” is a unique musical project created and directed by Latin Grammy-nominated composer Rafael Piccolotto de Lima. Established in 2018, the initiative reimagines traditional Brazilian forró music by arranging it for chamber orchestras, blending classical and jazz elements to create a rich, instrumental experience.
The ensemble performs both original compositions and innovative arrangements of forró classics, offering audiences a fresh perspective on this northeastern Brazilian genre. Designed to engage listeners and dancers alike, Forró Sem Palavras has been featured in various cities across the Americas, including New York, Montreal, Toronto, Campinas, and Rio Claro.
By integrating diverse musical influences, the project aims to expand the cultural reach of forró, presenting it within an orchestral framework that appeals to a broad audience. This fusion not only preserves the traditional essence of forró but also introduces it to new listeners through innovative interpretations.
