Description
Though it can be said about all artists that they draw from multiple sources, few artists can claim to draw from such a diverse palette as Rana Mansour. An Iranian-American musician now based in Los Angeles, Rana Mansour is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee School of Music, and well decorated member of the Iranian World Music scene. A musician equally comfortable performing tango as she is performing jazz manouche, singing in Farsi or singing in English, Rana Mansour can only truly be described as a musical polymath who never sacrifices quality for quantity.
Rana Mansour’s musical library, though diverse in style, all contain two key elements, an infectious groove and a strong, defined message. Mansour is a musician who follows in the footsteps of Abbey Lincoln, Sam Cooke, and many others, as she engages in the deep tradition of activism through music. Mansour’s work, though accessible to all, also reflects a core message of supporting and uplifting women, both in politics and life, as well as in the music industry. These messages carry through all of Mansour’s music, including her newest release Breathe; a new release that explores the more R&B and Neo-Soul elements than her earlier releases.
Rana Mansours career is also reflective of her music, diverse but very developed. Having performed on stages across Canada, Europe, and the United States, including performances on Voices of America, the BBC, and a performance in 2023 at the White House to celebrate Nowruz, Mansour is no stranger to the stage. Audience members should expect a refined, hypnotic performance that is accessible to music listeners from all walks of life.
