Khondzi’s Perkhuli is a live music project led by saxophonist and composer Khondzi. Inspired by the ancient Georgian round dance, the music blends jazz, funk, and folk into a powerful experience. This music guides the listener through a journey that shifts from meditative to adventurous, much like joining a spiritual, magical circle of movement and prayer.

Description

Khondzi is a Brooklyn based saxophone player and composer from Tbilisi, Georgia. His music is a fusion of Jazz, Funk, Folk, and Ancient Trance Dance Music. He honed his craft with years of practice and experimentation with his colleagues and studied at some of the most prestigious musical institutions like the Berklee College of Music and School of Jazz and Contemporary Music at the New School. Khondzi has performed at venues and festivals such as NYC Winter JazzFest, Nublu, Birdland, Black Sea Jazz Festival, Tbilisi Jazz Festival, Klaipeda Jazz Festival, Saulkrasti Jazz Fest, etc. He has toured internationally with some of the biggest Georgian artists like Nino Katamadze, Stephane, Dato Evgenidze and Salio.
