Opening Band: Barakka
Based in Philadelphia, PA, USA, Barakka is a unique blend of Turkish Folk Rock and Anadolu Rock, mixing eastern and western instrumentation pioneered by artists like Bariş Manço and Erkin Koray. Their specialized brand of music derives its unique sound from a melding of traditional Turkish music, classic Middle Eastern music, and the band’s own original songs.
Led by Istanbul native singer/songwriter/guitarist, Bariş Kaya, this multi-ethnic group of seasoned musicians has been playing in the United States and Turkey for the better part of a decade, and is currently working on the their second album, due for release later this year.
Necati ve Saykolar is a Turkish rock band formed in 2011, consisting of vocalist and saz player Necati Karadayı, guitarist Alper Kayman, bassist Barış Şanlısoy, drummer Serhat Ergür, and keyboardist Sezer Süngü.
The band masterfully brings the Anatolian Folk Rock music of the 1970s and 1980s into the modern era with a fresh sound, successfully representing the genre today. By reinterpreting various songs in their unique style and incorporating improvised dialogue into their performances, they transform their shows into theatrical spectacles, creating a lively and entertaining atmosphere for their audience.
Necati ve Saykolar laid their initial foundations in 2008, reaching their final form in 2011. Originating from Denizli, the group started performing locally as amateurs in small venues. They began to gain recognition in their early years by covering songs of legendary Anatolian rock artists such as Cem Karaca, Barış Manço, and Moğollar, whom they cite as inspirations for their stage performances.
In June 2014, they released their debut album Dur Bak Dinle Geç. Following this album, they continued to perform both their original songs and beloved classics during their concerts. In March 2017, their second album Mütemadiyen, produced by Hayko Cepkin, was released.
