Tamara Jokic is a singer and a composer born in Valjevo, Serbia. After graduating at Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA) she moved to New York, where she is currently living and creating.
Passionately devoted to the Mediterranean culture, music and languages, she had the opportunity to work and perform with many world-class musicians and producers, such as Javier Limón, Mariza, Diogo Clemente, New York Gypsy All Stars, Panagiotis Andreou, Amira Medunjanin, Bojan Z, Montse Cortés, Alejandro Sanz, Israel Suárez Piraña, Paul Winter, Jamie Haddad, as well as rising young stars of the contemporary and world music scene such as Layth Sidiq, Nella Rojas etc. Singing in more than 10 languages, Tamara develops her own expression in world music genre, lovingly nurturing the fusion of Mediterranean and Balkan music.
Tamara Jokic, as one of the most promising world music vocalists of today, performed in numerous acclaimed concert halls throughout the world: Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space NY, Kombank Dvorana in Belgrade, Teatro Zarzuela in Madrid, BPC in Boston, Kolarčeva Zadužbina in Belgrade, etc.
Apart from her on-stage musical endeavors, Tamara Jokic is an avid educator and a speaker. After obtaining a BA and an MA degree in Linguistics at University of Belgrade, Serbia and University of Granada, Spain and shortly after a music degree at Berklee College of Music, Tamara explored and dove into the correlation between languages, voice and music in the Mediterranean area of the world. On the topics of Voice and Language in the Mediterranean, Multilingual singing, Correlation between Linguistic and Musical Heritage, Tamara held various masterclasses, lectures and clinics. City University of New York (CUNY), Berklee College of Music, Lebanese American University (LAU), University of Novi Sad, Instituto Camões, among others.
In 2022, uniting the musical and lyrical creativity of Iberian peninsula, Tamara Jokic presents her newly released music in a different light, with a contemporary instrumentation, storytelling background, while being closely fused with her roots. She is an artist that uniquely brings us the Sounds of the East through Spanish and Portuguese languages and the Mediterranean sentiment.
In February 2022, Tamara released her first album ‘Transibérica’ on Sony Music Portugal, produced by Javier Limón and Diogo Clemente, that reunites two biggest influences of hers: the music of Spain and Portugal.
