Description

If Héctor Lavoe Boxed Rubén Blades and KRS-1 was the referee, you’d get Flaco Navaja. A nostalgic old sound with brand new spoken word.
Flaco Navaja is a singer, poet, actor, who is born and raised in the Bronx. He sings in both Spanish and English and has toured with various groups across the planet.
He and his band, The Razor Blades, bring a fresh approach to tropical Latin music, packing the heat of the golden age of ‘Salsa Gorda’, the street-tough 70’s era sound ushered in by the Fania All-Stars, Eddie Palmieri, and other Latin music legends.
Flaco’s voice can be heard in various film & TV productions, including the film version of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s ‘In The Heights’, and the theme song for the PBS children’s show, ‘Alma’s Way’.
His one-man autobiographical theatrical production, ‘Evolution of a Sonero’, premiered in 2020 at the off-Broadway Public Theater in NYC, and continued to dazzle audiences across the country to Los Angeles, with a star-studded attendance, bringing out Latino Hollywood to every night of its run.
Navaja’s original style of poetry combines singing, beat-boxing, and spoken word. He was the host of the legendary open mic showcase; “All That! Hip Hop Poetry & Jazz” at the famous Nuyorican Poets’ Cafe. He has traveled the globe, performing at national and international venues and events. In 2003, he toured internationally with the Tony Award winning Russell Simmons’ Def Poetry Jam, and appeared on four episodes of the HBO series.

Navaja is a member of Screen Actors Guild and has appeared in several films & television shows.
