As a mere 18 month-old, Danae Greenfield’s tiny, untrained fingers tapped out sounds and patterns on a battery-operated, single octave toy keyboard given to her by her parents. Playing this color-coded keyboard in her Bellevue, Washington home, marked the start of Danae’s pursuit of music. At the age of six, she began taking classical piano lessons which were interspersed with other genres. She transitioned to jazz at the age of 12. Danae immersed herself fully in jazz during her high school years, performing with Newport’s and Bellevue College’s top jazz bands, as well as Bruce Staelens’ Music Works Honors Jazz Ensemble.
After graduating from Newport in 2013, Danae moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music where she was awarded a performance-based full-tuition four year scholarship. Danae has had the privilege of sharing the stage with Chick Corea, Ambrose Akinmusire, Terell Stafford, Sean Jones, Tia Fuller, and Jason Palmer. She has performed in venues such as the Paramount Theater and Tula’s Jazz Club in Seattle, the Wilbur Theatre in Boston, and Golden State Theatre in Monterey, CA. Danae was also invited to participate in the Next Generation Jazz Festival in April 2017 as a clinician and performer, opening for John Clayton’s group.
Kevin Harris in collaboration with Fabio Rojas on a new project called “Contraluz”, which is a highly interactive compilation of an original repertoire that seeks to interpret a message of curiosity, persistence, courage, and exploration.
Kevin Harris plays a distinctive combination of traditional and contemporary music that explores the crossroads of Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, J.S. Bach, Scott Joplin, and the folkloric rhythms of Cuba. Could one possibly conceptualize the celebration that occurs at that intersection? Among his most notable collaborators are Greg Osby, Jeremy Pelt, Francisco Mela, Avishai Cohen, Eddie Gomez, Duane Eubanks, Richie Barshay, Ben Street and Terri Lyne Carrington.
Originally from Valencia, Venezuela, Fabio Rojas has performed with Terri Lyne Carrington, Geri Allen, Greg Osby Band, Nino de los Reyes, Regina Carter, Rachel Z Hakim, David Bixler, Gregg August, Jason Palmer, Jon Cowherd and Sean Jones. Besides performing and composing music for films and commercials, Rojas is a Faculty member at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.
