Olivia Pérez-Collellmir & Tamara Jokic

Women in World Music Series

Embarking on a harmonious journey that transcends borders and genres, the upcoming installment of the Women in World Music Series will be an extraordinary fusion of talent, featuring two remarkable artists: Olivia Pérez-Collellmir and Tamara Jokic.

Olivia Pérez-Collellmir, a virtuoso pianist and composer, unveils her debut full-length album “OLIVIA” on September 15th, a musical opus that beautifully interweaves the passionate strains of flamenco, the rhythms of Latin jazz, and the soulful traditions of Spanish folk and classical music. Heralded as a “Spanish virtuoso” who infuses “a flamenco touch to chamber jazz,” Olivia’s music resonates with the indigenous sounds of her hometown, Barcelona, Spain. Her compositions, described by Osvaldo Golijov as a “striking and gorgeous distillation of profound lyricism,” showcase her technical brilliance and artistry, while also venturing into the evocative realms of India and the Middle East.

Tamara Jokic, a widely awarded singer and songwriter born in Valjevo, Serbia, brings forth her own unique expression in the world music genre. Having honed her craft at the esteemed Berklee College of Music, she now calls New York her creative home. With a profound dedication to Mediterranean culture, music, and languages, Tamara has collaborated with a constellation of world-class musicians and producers, from Javier Limón to Mariza, crafting a sound that seamlessly melds Mediterranean and Balkan influences. Her music, presented with contemporary instrumentation and rooted in storytelling, serves as a bridge between her heritage and the world, offering a captivating fusion of Eastern sounds through Spanish and Portuguese languages. She performed in Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, National Theater of Slovenia and all over Europe.

In a resounding testament to their artistry, Tamara recently released her debut album ‘Transibérica’ in February 2022, a mesmerizing production brought to life in collaboration with Javier Limón and Diogo Clemente under the banner of Sony Music Portugal.
